Small Church Conference

I've spent the last few days down the road in Lewisville (not Louisville) at the Small Church Conference. It's not every day you get to hang out with the likes of Les Puryear, Micah Fries, Kevin Bussey, C.B. Scott, and Tim Rogers. And that doesn't include guys like Alvin Reid, Greg Lawson, Chris Schofield, David McEachern, Frank Page, Tom Elliff, Brad Waggoner, Dick Church, and Chris Hauser. Plus worship with Matthew Smith To say I enjoyed myself is an understatement.

The great praise for this conference goes to our God.

The great gratitude, however, goes to the people of Lewisville Baptist Church. These wonderful folks served us meals and snacks, manned the entrances of the church, mixed the audio, handled the music table, ran the video cameras, and generally welcomed us to their church home. They were absolutely wonderful.

One event from the conference should probably be unmentioned, but I just can't let it go. My good friend Tom McLean had a little mishap on Thursday evening--he drove his car off a retaining wall. After an hour and a half, thanks to a VERY CAREFUL tow-truck operator, Tom's car was pulled off the wall and he was able to drive it home. The funniest moment of the evening had to be when a Forsyth County Sheriff's Deputy pulled up and began to take pictures with his digital camera because "nobody will ever believe this!" Take a look for yourself:

It wasn't very funny at the time, but I'm fighting back a laugh as I type this. Tom, if you're reading this, you are a true friend. I hope you can still say the same for me.

Anyway, thank you, Les and Micah.

Thank you, my Lewisville friends.

Thanks to all the brothers and sisters who were a part of this conference. It's been great!
